Programs are important for the user to communicate with the computer. Thus, users need to install computer applications to make sure that the computer will work the way users need to. There are also computer programs or softwares that you can download from internet websites to help you in more specific and advanced tasks.
Many computer programmers create softwares or improve existing ones for users to purchase and download from the internet.
However, because of the proliferation of computer viruses that may harm the computer like deleting files, or crashing the system, users need to be careful in downloading and installing computer softwares.
Looking Into a Career in Computer Programming
A computer programmer job description shall show that he is someone whose main responsibility is to write a series of instructions that allows a computer to process information given to it and give the end results desired. Generally, a programmer’s work will depend on the kind of system that the employer or the company wants to be done. Usually, there are a variety of projects that are being asked to do at one time. The different kinds of companies or departments that programmers can usually work for include educational, manufacturing, engineering and industrial institutions. Government offices and hospitals also often hire programmers. The qualifications of a programmer usually include being a graduate of BS Computer Science, BS Math or BS Information Systems. Being well trained in a particular language used in computer programming is also very important.
The steps that are included in a programmer’s job usually start at the description given for the particular posting. Once the applicant is accepted in the job, he shall start to make a flow chart that will show how he plans to do the transfer of the information from the computer to an output. Systems analysts and computer software engineers usually help in the process of developing a particular system and once they are done with the job assigned to them, they then give final instructions to computer programmer.
Virus-Like Computer Programs
These programs are classified into three categories:
- Trojan horses
- Logic bombs
- Malicious software programs that run within a web browser.
A virus-like program that pretends to do something else is called a Trojan horse. It appears as something interesting and harmless but when it runs it may have harmful effects.
A logic bomb infects a computers memory but does not replicate. It has the capability to erase a hard drive or delete some files. It is usually triggered by typing a combination of some keyboard keys or when some computer instructions are carried out. It can also be triggered when a certain date is reached.
Virus-like programs that run within a web browser are called malicious software. This often happens when a web browser appears in java applets and ActiveX Controls. These two usually increase a viral program to interfere with unprotected programs although they help the usefulness of a website.
